Litchfield Distillery Unveils Six-Year Bottled-in-Bond Straight Bourbon Whiskey

LITCHFIELD, CT – In what has become an annual tradition, Litchfield Distillery is thrilled to announce the highly-anticipated year-end release of a limited six-year old Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This is a special “bottled-in-bond” expression and will be introduced under Litchfield’s “Founders’ Reserve” label.

The Founders’ Reserve appellation is reserved for only the most extraordinary Litchfield Distillery casks that meet the unanimous approval of all three owners, and brothers, David, Jack and Peter Baker. “Founders’ Reserve represents the pinnacle of our craft, a testament to our commitment to producing exceptional Connecticut-made craft spirits,” said David Baker, co-partner of Litchfield Distillery.

Distilled from Connecticut-grown grains – 70% corn, 25% rye, and 5% malted barley – this Straight Bourbon Whiskey showcases the terroir of the Nutmeg State and the hard work of its farmers. Aged for six years in new American oak barrels and bottled at 100 proof, the final expression is a smooth and complex bourbon featuring a lush, harmonious blend of classic oak, caramel and vanilla notes with a subtle touch of cherry and spice. It is a true illustration of Litchfield Distillery’s dedication to quality and award-winning craftsmanship.

The bottled-in-bond designation carries more than a century’s worth of American distilling heritage and was originally created to ensure provenance and transparency among U.S. distilleries. “To make the bottled-in-bond designation, a distillery must clear several hurdles,” said Jack Baker, co-partner of Litchfield Distillery. “The spirit must be aged at least four years and bottled precisely at 100 proof. It must be made by one distiller at a single distillery in one season, and then aged in a bonded warehouse.”

To make this release even more special, Litchfield’s six-year bourbon comes in a branded wood gift box that includes a 750ml bottle of the straight bourbon and two branded rocks glasses. It is a perfect gift for bourbon enthusiasts, collectors, and anyone who appreciates “The Spirit of Hard Work®” that is required to produce a bottle of fine bourbon.

“We are thrilled to share this six-year bourbon whiskey with the world and to toast the conclusion of another successful year,” said Peter Baker, co-partner of Litchfield Distillery. “Our Connecticut-grown bourbon keeps getting better with age and we think it is worthy of sharing the national spotlight with any other bourbon in the country.”

This release marks the third time Litchfield Distillery has bottled their CT-grown bourbon whiskey with a six-year age statement. “Our older barrels have a fair amount of angel’s share, or evaporation, which created a nicely concentrated and complex flavor profile in the remaining bourbon,” continued Peter Baker. “We have over 1,400 barrels of bourbon resting in our rickhouse and we are extremely excited for the future as our aged spirits continue to mature.”

The distillery released 1,500 Founders’ Reserve Gift Box sets, which are available for sale at Litchfield Distillery and select liquor stores throughout Connecticut. The suggested retail price for the gift box is $89.95 (+ tax). The item is not available to ship, but adult customers can purchase online to hold and pick up at Litchfield Distillery through their Curbside Pickup page.
