Honoring 250 Years of American Spirit

At Litchfield Distillery, every bottle we fill begins with a deep respect for the ingredients, the craft, and the people whose hard work makes it all possible. But every so often, a release comes along that carries a little more history.

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, we’re proud to introduce a special limited commemorative release: Litchfield Whiskey, distilled from 100% Connecticut-grown corn and bottled at 92 proof.

This one-batch release is available now at the distillery and will begin shipping to retailers on June 1st. Only 900 bottles were produced, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. With no additional corn whiskey currently aging in our rickhouse, this release is a true collector’s bottle.

To create a release worthy of the occasion — and to have a little fun — we decided to bring in a couple of “big guns.”

And yes, we mean that literally. Or at least historically.

Ed DeCortin (left) and Tim Abbott (right) present our 250th Commemorative whiskey release.

As part of the launch, we invited a pair of Revolutionary-era reenactors into our rickhouse to help us pay homage to the spirit of America’s founding. Surrounded by aging barrels, dressed in colonial gear, and raising a toast to the past, they helped us capture the mood behind this commemorative release: a tribute to grit, determination, and the enduring American spirit. We offer our gratitude to Tim Abbott and Ed DeCortin for lending their time, energy, and historical flair to the occasion.

The story of American whiskey is rooted in agriculture. Long before whiskey became a modern category, early settlers were working the land, breaking hardscrabble ground, and cultivating grains that sustained their families, fed their livestock, and helped build local economies. A portion of that bounty often found its way into copper pot stills, yielding some of the earliest American spirits.

Corn eventually played an important role in that story. Hardy, versatile, and deeply connected to the land, corn ultimately became a defining grain of American whiskey-making.

Our Litchfield Whiskey is distilled from 100% Connecticut-grown corn, a fitting tribute to both America’s agricultural roots and our own grain-to-glass approach. It was aged for six years, allowing the whiskey to develop a smooth, full-bodied character with the kind of depth and maturity that only time can provide.

On the palate, this whiskey offers a smooth balance of sweet corn, subtle oak, caramel, brown sugar, and baking spice. Bottled at 92 proof, it has enough structure to deliver a rich sipping experience while remaining smooth and approachable. It’s a whiskey made for pouring neat, sharing with friends, and toasting the long road that brought us here.

The commemorative label was designed to reflect that same sense of history. The colonial cannon artwork is a patriotic nod to America’s founding era, while also echoing the hard-working barrel-roller icon that has represented our brand since the beginning.

It’s a bottle that looks back with respect, but it also speaks to the work still being done today — by farmers, makers, tradespeople, small businesses, and everyone who believes that meaningful things take time, patience, and persistence.

That’s why this release feels especially right for Litchfield Distillery. Since the beginning, our ethos has been The Spirit of Hard Work®. America’s story has always been shaped by people willing to do the hard work — to build, plant, distill, create, defend, repair, and begin again. This whiskey is a small tribute to that legacy.

Litchfield Whiskey is available now at the Litchfield Distillery tasting room and will begin shipping to retailers on June 1st. The suggested retail price is $64.95, and each bottle comes packaged in a commemorative red gift box.

Remember, only 900 bottles were produced in this one-batch limited commemorative release, so we encourage you to ask your local retailer for Litchfield Distillery’s 250th Commemorative Whiskey while supplies last.

We invite you to visit the distillery for a tasting, see where the work happens, and raise a glass with us to 250 years of American spirit.
