The Litchfielder Cocktail Competition Finalists
The Batchers of Litchfield Distillery would like to thank the 45 cocktail enthusiasts and bartenders that took time to create, experiment and submit their cocktail recipe for The Litchfielder Cocktail Competition. We were impressed by the quality of ideas. It was a difficult process to narrow down to six finalists, but we did.
The six finalists who will be competing live on Monday, November 13th are listed below. Our judges have their work cut out to pick a winner among this bunch!
Entry #13: Cole Stephenson
Cole’s recipe is a variation on a Manhattan featuring cherry bitters and smoked maple syrup.
2 oz. Batchers’ Straight Bourbon
1/2 oz. Amaro Averna
1 oz. Punt e Mes
1/4 oz. Runamok Pecan Smoked Maple Syrup
2 dashes Woodford Spiced Cherry Bitters
Entry #19: Tom Sutton
Tom’s inclusion of ginger liqueur and fresh lemon juice should make this cocktail flavor forward but well-balanced.
2 1/2 oz Batchers’ Straight Bourbon
1/2 oz Barrows Intense Ginger Liqueur
1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
2 barspoons Yellow Charteuse
1/4 oz honey syrup (1:1) and 2 dashes bar-keep Apple Bitters
Entry #23: Craig Ventrice
Craig’s creative combination of ingredients is simple yet promises to deliver an array of complex flavor notes.
2 oz Batchers’ Straight Bourbon
1/2 oz Amaro Montenegro
1/4 oz Aged Tawny Port
1/4 oz St. George Nola Coffee Liqueur
2 dashes Angostura Bitters & 3 drops vanilla extract.
Entry #24: Juan Meyer
Juan’s recipe is simply enticing and presents beautifully.
2 oz Batchers’ Straight Bourbon
1 oz Tempus Fugit Gran Classico Bitter
1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 oz Dorset Maple Reserve Bourbon Barrel Maple Syrup
2 dashes of Dashfire Sichaun Bitters
Entry #26: Christian Hertado
Christian pairs our bourbon with an enticing blend of Amaretto and Apple flavors.
2 oz Batchers’ Straight Bourbon
3/4 oz Lemon Juice
1/4 oz Luxardo Amaretto
1/4 oz Simple Syrup
1 bar spoon apple butter
Egg whites (optional)
Apple garnish
Entry #29: Kateri Duffey
Kateri’s entry includes fresh herbs and berries easily grown in Litchfield County.
2 oz Batchers’ Straight Bourbon
1 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz dry vermouth
1/2 oz agave
3 dashes Bittermans orange cream bitters
4 muddled blackberries
4 muddled sage leaves
Garnished with 2 skewered blackberries and a sage leaf
