Meet the Batchers: Sharon Vaghi

In this issue of Meet the Batchers, we feature Sharon Vaghi, who has been on our team for a little over two years. We’re lucky to have a great team at Litchfield Distillery and love to showcase our team members’ Spirit of Hard Work® in each Meet the Batchers post.

What is your role at Litchfield Distillery?

I have been a Brand Ambassador for Litchfield Distillery since March, 2016. I promote the Brand and educate people about how we distill spirits and produce fantastic bourbon in Litchfield Connecticut. I conduct tastings at diverse venues and events in Fairfield and Westchester counties, and in the greater New York area. You’ll find me all over in place likes liquor stores, galas, cigar companies, golf outings, farm-to-table dinners, museum events, and more! I also attend sales calls when needed in these areas. In the past, I have conducted tours at the Distillery.

What were you doing before Litchfield Distillery?

I previously owned my own business, with my daughter Danielle, distilling Creamy Italian Liquors (Creamy Limoncello), which is how I met David and Jack. Prior to that, I volunteered at The American Cancer Society, Danbury Hospital and my children’s schools. I have four children and two grand children.

What do you like most about working for the Batchers?

I like that they allow me to promote their products with all the passion I have as if it is my own business. I love meeting people and introducing them to the array of Litchfield Distillery products.

What’s the best compliment you’ve heard from a Litchfield Distillery fan?

I love it when I have a Scotch drinker at a tasting and they are tell me all the reasons why Scotch is so much better than Bourbon. We chat for a while and when I invite them to taste one of our fine Bourbons, they’ll say, “Wow, that’s pretty good!” A response like that is a tremendous compliment for our product. And, yes, this happens on more than a few occasions.

Favorite Batchers’ spirit?

My favorite is the Bourbon Whiskey Port Cask Finish. Truth be told, I was not a Bourbon drinker prior to working for the Distillery. After my first encounter with the Port Cask, I became a huge fan. It has such a smooth finish with just enough sweetness for me. Warms the heart!

Got a favorite cocktail recipe to share using Batchers’ spirits?

My favorite cocktail is our Birched Bourbon. I use either our Batchers’ Straight Bourbon or the Vanilla Bourbon, along with the Hartford Flavor Company’s WildmoonBirch Liquor. Add an orange slice and an Original Maraschino Cherry, serve on ice, and enjoy! Yummy! (Click HERE for the recipe.)

When you’re not working, what do you like to do?

I love making Sunday dinners for my family. I love spending time with my grandsons, Theo and Carter. I love when I can make time for my workout classes.
