Seven Holiday Cocktails by Mixology Spirit Guests
Looking for some cocktail inspiration for the holiday season? Check out these indulgent creations crafted by our amazing Mixology Spirit guests. We took a look back at the four years of bartender interviews we’ve featured on the Mixology Spirit blog and selected seven cocktails that we thought would enhance your holiday festivities. It’s a special time of the year, so plan ahead and make the time to serve some exceptional drinks this season! There’s something for just about everyone in this collection.
“Sicilian Socialite” by Karen Veillette
Karen’s “Sicilian Socialite” is a play on the Boulevardier, which translates to “a dapper man about town.” It features our Straight Bourbon Whiskey and a Mulled Spiced Infused Aperol, which to us, makes this feel like the holidays in a glass. Read Karen’s full interview.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Litchfield Distillery Straight Bourbon
- 1 oz. Mulled Spice Infused Aperol
- 1 oz. Amaro
- 1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 oz. Fresh Blood Orange Juice
- 2 Shakes Cardamom Bitters
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker over ice, stir about 22 times, clockwise. Pour over a king cube and garnish with a blood orange slice.
“No Egg, All Nog” by Gary “Fiveboys” Crone
Gary’s “No Egg/All Nog” is a creamy and indulgent cocktail with a taste and texture similar to egg nog, but without any egg ingredients. It combines two of Litchfield Distillery’s most popular flavored expressions, our Vanilla and Maple Bourbon. Read Gary’s full interview.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz. Litchfield Distillery Vanilla Bourbon
1.5 oz. Litchfield Distillery Maple Bourbon
2 oz. White Creme de Cacao
2 oz. Heavy Cream
3 Dashes Black Walnut Bitters
3 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Method: Combine all ingredients into shaker and dry shake. Add ice and shake again. Double strain into a coupe and dust with nutmeg for garnish.
“Cappuccini” by Ryan O’Toole
The “Cappuccini” features our Litchfield Distillery Coffee Bourbon, which is made with locally-roasted beans from Zero Prophet Coffee. This cocktail explodes with bold coffee and bourbon flavor intertwined with sweet, creamy deliciousness and a touch of chocolate. Ingredients:
- 1 oz. Litchfield Distillery Coffee Bourbon
- 1 oz. Fresh Espresso
- 0.75 oz. Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 0.75 oz. Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
- 0.25 oz. Luxardo Maraschino
- 0.25 oz. Espresso Simple Syrup
Method: Add ingredients to a mixing tin with ice. Shake vigorously to achieve a nice froth. Single strain into chilled martini glass. Dark chocolate and cinnamon dusting for garnish.
“Holiday Thin Mint” by Dylan Jefferies
Think of Dylan’s Holiday Thin Mint as dessert in a glass. It may be more on the complicated side to make, but it’s worth the effort and guaranteed to impress your holiday guests. It is perfectly balanced, creamy, minty and beautifully presented. Read Dylan’s full interview.
Ingredients:
1.25 oz. Litchfield Distillery Vodka
.5 oz. Tempus Fugit Crème de Cacao
.5 oz. Tempus Fugit White Crème de Menthe
.25 oz. Fernet Menta
Dash of Cane Sugar Syrup
1.0 oz. Heavy Cream
Matcha & Vanilla Whipped Cream
Chocolate & Mint Sprig for Garnish
Method: Combine all ingredients into shaker, add ice and reverse dry shake. Strain into 10-12 oz. glass and top with Matcha Whipped Cream. Grate chocolate over top and add mint sprig. Serve with mint chocolate cookies.
“Vanilla Birch Old Fashioned” by Trevor Reed
Since we opened our doors, the Vanilla Birch Old Fashioned has been one of our favorite cocktails. It’s built with our Vanilla Bourbon and CT’s Wild Moon Birch Liqueur. This is a straight forward cocktail to make and one you’ll come back to because it’s simply delicious! Read Trevor’s full interview.
Ingredients:
- 2.0 oz Litchfield Distillery Vanilla Bourbon
- 1.5 oz Wild Moon Birch Liqueur
- Splash of Water
- Luxardo Cherry & Orange Slice/Twist
Method: Add a splash of water into mixer glass, then muddle a cherry and orange slice until you have about a half ounce of liquid in the bottom. Add the bourbon and birch liqueur; stir for about 45 seconds to 1 minute. Strain over a large cube and garnish with orange twist and cherry on a skewer.
“The Birch Tree” by Sean D’Addio
Another birch-themed cocktail is Sean’s The Birch Tree. It showcases our Straight Bourbon Whiskey and is a wonderful mix of Maple Birch Syrup, Vermouth and Apple Brandy. It’s elegant and full of delicious layers of flavors in perfect. Each sip reveals something new. Read Sean’s full interview.
Ingredients:
- 2.0 oz Litchfield Distillery Straight Bourbon
- 0.50 oz New Leaf Maple Birch Syrup
- 0.50 oz Contratto Vermouth Bianco
- 0.50 oz Bonal Aperitif
- 0.50 oz Neversink Apple Brandy
- 2 Dashes Bitter Truth Bitters
- Orange Garnish
Method: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir gently. Strain into a couple glass and garnish with orange.
“Cocoa Maple Old Fashioned” by Reagan Nicole
The Cocoa Maple Old Fashioned is an intriguing spin on the classic Old Fashioned. The addition of Dark Creme de Cacao and Cocoa Bitters adds a subtle layer of chocolate flavor, while creating a velvety-smooth mouthfeel. If you love Old Fashioneds this is a simple way to transform it into a holiday cocktail.
Ingredients:
- 2.0 oz. Litchfield Distillery Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- 0.25 oz. Litchfield Distillery Bourbon-Barrel Maple Syrup
- 0.25 oz. Dark Creme de Cacao
- 4 Dashes Cocoa Bitters
- Garnish: Cinnamon Stick and Burnt Orange Twist
Method: Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice and stir. Strain into rocks glass over fresh ice. Light a flame under the orange peel while squeezing over the flame. Rim the glass with the peel, and add to glass along with cinnamon stick.
